Shield's Date Farm

A trip to the Coachella Valley would not be complete without visiting the famous Shield's Date Gardens! Located on Highway 111 just east of Jefferson Avenue in Indio. In 1924 Floyd and Bess Shields came to California and started Shields Date Gardens. Floyd's "Blonde" and "Brunette" dates are his own creations and cannot be found anywhere else in the world, so be sure to pick up a pack of dates for yourself and take another pack home to a loved one. And if you have time, visitors are encouraged to see the 15-minute film "Romance and Sex Life of the Date". Open 9:00 am to 5:00 pm daily, please allow time to visit this wonderful landmark of the Coachella Valley and try a dateshake too!
