CraigdarrochCraigdarroch was the country seat of Alexander Fergusson, Laird of Craigdarroch. He and Robert Burns became friendly during Burns time in Edinburgh in 1786/7, a friendship which strengthened when Burns rented the Ellisland farm not far from Craigdarroch. Alexander Fergusson of Craigdarroch was Master of Lodge Canongate Kilwinning from 1784 to 1787 and is featured handing the laurel wreath to Robert Burns in the painting "The Inauguration of Robert Burns as Poet Laureate of Lodge Canongate Kilwinning 1st March 1787".
