In August 2007 I attended the Black Caucus of the American Library Association's National Conference of African American Librarians (NCAAL). I was awarded the Dr. John C. Tyson Young Professional Award. The award was truly an honor and I was told by several individuals how passionate Dr. Tyson was about libraries.

Jackson State University's Margaret Walker Alexander Center is developing a proposal to create a digital collection of black studies materials online. The project involves multiple institutions and it is in collaboration with Professor Maryemma Graham at the University of Kentuck.

The Georgia Archives is where both the 2005 and 2007 Historically Black College and University Digital Imaging Workshops were held.

The Robert W. Woodruff Library of the Atlanta University Center (AUC) is a partner with Cornell University Library (CUL) and the Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Library Alliance in the CUL-HBCU Digitization Initaitive. Elizabeth Gail McClenney, Deputy Director of the AUC manages the HBCU Digital Collection, which is a database of historical documents pertaining to the founding of HBCU colleges and universities.
