NEW WORLD PARK, the former amusement centre of Penang that has remained closed for decades, looks set to become a major focal point for food, shopping and entertainment again, albeit in a manner that is in line with the times. Designed as individual shops and stalls within a high-roofed alfresco mall, it includes a mini stage for music and dance. Unlike the other song-and-beer-by-night coffeeshops and food courts that have sprouted over the years, New World Park appears to be positioned for more wholesome activities, judging from its design, facilities and the food outlets it has attracted.
