One of the many islands off mainland Kedah. Famed for its archipelago and marine biodiversity, it is visited all year round by diving enthusiasts. Snorkel amongst sand sharks (supposedly 'friendly'), barracudas, clown fishes, giant garoupa, corals of many colours, sea cucumber and ugly sea urchines. One can get many packages available (i.e. http://www.langkawi-ferry.com/payar.html)
Times Square - known as the crossroads of the world. Stand in the middle of it and be taken in by the fluorescent display of the nearby Virgin megastore or the numerous ads flashing at you. Count the number of NY cabs zipping by and the number of dialects you are able to recognize. Apart from the atmosphere, there's not many monuments in which you can visit, however, on the whole, Times Square is a sight and sound overload that you'll have to experience it in order to understand what I mean.
A lovely seaside town - scenic landscape and a quiet getaway. Visit nearby fishing village, Anstruther for one of the best fish n chips in Scotland (2006 Award winner). If you are planning a cullinary trip there - make sure you have more than an hour to spare, as the queues are LONG. Eating along the seafront is also a hazard (we resorted to eating on the seafront as the restaurant was super packed) due to the seagulls - so beware! Another attraction is the chain walk (part of the Fife coastal work), in which you walk along the cliffs by clinging onto chains while trying to avoid a 30m drop. Good for adrenaline junkies.
