The food is a mixture of Hainanese and local dishes associated with this group of Chinese, many of whom had served as cooks for the colonial British as well as establishments catering to them and the local elite.

    * Curry pomfret (gulai tumis tow tay). This is an expensive fish and can cost up to RM8 a piece.

    * Salted fish Belanda (Dutch) style (kiam hoo Belanda)
